When in Los Angeles do as the Los Angelesians do! We took a weekend trip to Las Vegas, it's what all southern Californians do! . It's about a 4 hour drive, well we had to make a few pit stops along the way, luckily our car comes equipped with a potty perfect for a 2.5 yr old boy who is potty training. We just pull over to the side of the road and let him go in the back of the car, he still isn't quite sure about going outside, I'm sure it will just be a matter of time.

It was also our first family trip as a foursome. Sandy and Bob spent a week there and we decided to crash their vacation (they asked us to) for a few days. Randy and I took advantage of having babysitters and went and saw KA at the MGM Grand. We spent the days in Vegas walking around on the strip with the family. One night Randy and I went out to the casinos til almost 10 pm one night :). Another night, we took a power nap in the evening and when it was time to wake up to go out, we both choose sleep over partying. Two wild and crazy kids here :)
I was amazed as a playground for adults (Vegas), could be so much fun as a family. Reese really enjoyed it. He was in awe every time we stepped foot inside the casino at all the noise and lights. We were able to go to Siegfried and Roy's garden to see the dolphins and tigers. We saw the MGM Lion, and he loved the Harley Davidson building with the motorcycle coming out of the building. We stopped by the M&M Factory and ate at the Rain forest Cafe and watched the Bellagio fountains a few times. We even stayed out late with Reese and watched the Mirage Volcano, it was 9 pm, the whole time I was wondering if people were eying us because we had our kids out that late on the Las Vegas strip. However, Reese's favorite was the construction vehicles doing work along the street and watching Taxi's from our hotel window.
On Sunday, Sandy, Bob, Randy, and Reese all took a drive to see Hoover Dam. Avery and I stayed back at the hotel. Hoover Dam is on my bucket list to see but it just didn't work out with the spacing in our car and no rental car from Sandy and Bob so I offered to stay. Although, I wanted to go, it was a nice quiet morning with just Avery and I and what mom of an infant doesn't need that. Randy was a good husband and took many pictures, and I know I'll be able to go one day considering I visit Vegas at least once a year.
Randy returned back to the hotel, we packed up and headed towards Los Angeles. Recall the first paragraph about Las Vegas being a big getaway for locals. The locals also decide to leave on Sunday afternoon as well. About 20 minutes out of town we hit jam packed traffic. We almost considered turning around and spending an additional night in Las Vegas. It was off and on traffic the entire ride home. We were pulled over about an hour out of town as being reported as drinking beer in the car. That's right - someone called the cops on us for drinking Miller Lite (that's what the person who called in said) in the car with two kids. I know what you are thinking - How irresponsible of Randy and Ami to not have put their beer in a less obvious cup. I'm still floored by this and have narrowed it down to 1) Someone does not like Texas and saw our license plate and decided to play a little joke or 2) Someone saw the diet coke can or picked the wrong car. All in all, we had a huge laugh about it. Randy and I actually looked behind us for a camera because we thought we were on some prank show. Seven and a half hours later, including a sit down dinner at Chili's we were back in Glendale. We had a fabulous time and here are some of our pictures from the weekend.
P.S. - We weren't really drinking in the car
