11 months!

I am so not ready for this! My little boy is 11 months today! It seems like it was so long ago that he was just resting in my belly not wanting to come out and greet the world, but yet it has gone by so fast. In just one month, Reese turns the big 1 (tear, tear), I go back to work (sniff, tear), and Reese begins daycare (boo-hoo).

If that isn't bad enough..... Each month Pampers sends me an email titled "your BABY at (whatever) months. It is a quick informational email about what to expect during the first few years of your baby's life. Today's email was all about the last month as a BABY and transitioning into toddler stages. WHAT??? I have enough to deal with in the next month but all of a sudden I don't have a baby anymore, he is a toddler. It's going to be a tough month, sadly, it will go by so fast.

As for the update on my BABY boy, he is doing so well. He takes about 10 to 15 steps at a time. He gets really excited and tries to run but his feet just can't keep up with his upper body and he usually falls. When he does fall he just gets up on his knees, crawls and continues his mission to where ever he was headed. Here is an updated video of his walking abilities

He can say a handful of words, I think. He definitely says "Da-Da", it is his favorite word. When I move him from somewhere he isn't supposed to be, wipe his face, or put him down he says "No-no-no-no-no-no" Although his no's sound like na. He tries to repeat anything you say and looks at your mouth really curiously. The other day I said in a higher pitched voice while tickling him with my hands "tickle-tickle-tickle". After a few times, Reese looked at me and said also in a higher pitched voice " ickl, ickl, ickl". He also says all the time "dgee-geee", which I thought was doggie but am not so sure anymore since last night he said it to Boone, the stuffed monkey in his room, and when he was playing with his toy train. It may just be his excited word.

He is now eating food with his fingers which has made my kitchen floor very interesting along with two very happy furry friends that hang out by his high-chair at mealtimes. We usually put the different foods on his tray and he will actually pick out his favorites to eat first. He loves animal crackers, greenbeans, and grapes. He eats anything we put in front of him... well almost. The doctor advised me to give him a milk-based formula once a day to test out his dairy allergy so we would have an idea to give him cow's milk or soy-milk when he turned one, but he will not drink the formula. It is really the only thing I have ever seen him refuse. He currently has his two teeth on the bottom center the second one from the right center on top and the right center on top. Four total!

He loves sno-balls, see picture above. He actually kicks his legs in excitement when he sees that styrofoam cup with colored ice chips on top. I usually only give him a few bites because I can't imagine how much sugar are in sno-balls. That doesn't always work, the picture below shows what his face is like when you take a bite of the sno-ball instead of giving him one. I usually end up giving him a few more just to see the excitement on his face.

His favorite book right now is Sandra Boynton's Doggies. It is a counting book where each dog makes a different sound or bark. He cracks up laughing when I make the dog sounds.

He also loves to go outside, even if it is just to get the mail. He crawls so funny when he is on concrete or grass. He doesn't like to get his knees scraped or itchy so he crawls on his hands and feet. Here is a video of his bear crawl.

We have a busy month planned getting ready for the big O-N-E!! We are taking Reese to the Children's Museum, having his one year pictures taken, planning his party, meeting his teachers at daycare, going to the painted potter to do his handprints, going to the aquarium and just enjoy each minute with him before I go back to work. Look for updates throughout the month of our trips, milestones, and his Birthday Party.

It is so hard to believe Simon will be one years old in two weeks. I hope that some day they get to meet. We have been mixing whole milk with a regular formula bottle. It worked for Janna. Although when he does spit up it stinks! Gradually the bottle becomes all milk. Simon likes it warm but doesn't like cold milk. He has two teeth, one on top, one on bottom. Enjoy your upcoming outings. They sound like fun. The first couple weeks at work will be hard but it does get better.

Lily wasn't too crazy about "cow's milk" at first either. We ended up mixing a little Kefir (a probiotic that you can find at any grocery store) in with her milk and that did the trick. It's naturally flavored - I think we found some blueberry and some strawberry for her. Slowly, we put less and less in with her milk until she liked milk on it's own. Just another idea for you! Can't believe Reese is almost 1! How time flies!
