He loves Rice Cereal

Reese tried his first solid foods over the weekend, rice cereal. I think he enjoyed it. At first, he was unsure what to do with the spoon coming towards him. After a few bites he began to open his mouth in anticipation for the food. After a few more bites he would grab my hand with the spoon and direct it into his mouth for me and sometimes even grab the spoon on his own. His legs move in excitement waiting for the next bite. Towards the end he was a semi-pro at feeding from a spoon.

Merry Christmas

We are now home from our trip to Kentucky. Reese was spoiled from his aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas and friends for Christmas. His expectations are now set pretty high for the following Christmas :). He needed our help opening the presents but occasionally if he grabbed the wrapping paper with his fist he would give it a big yank and reveal a little more of the present. Due to time sake we opened a few for him.

Lets see where to begin. From Santa, he was given a bouncy Tigger, tickle me Elmo, crawl n cruise jungle, ABC spinner, teddy bear, and rattles. From Grandma and Grandpa Adams he opened leap pad books, jungle stack boxes, his first official UK basketball jersey outfit (can't wait until he fits into it), Target gift card to get whatever he wants, and many stuffed animals. From the Attebery home (grandma, grandpa, uncles, aunts, and Nanny) he received clothes, leap pad, Tigger rattle, spaceship plate set, crab rattle, roll n crawl ball, cell phone and baby roller skates (Yes, baby roller skates). From the Lillard home (momma, great aunts, great uncles, grandma, uncles, aunts) he was given sing along books, key rattles, my first Christmas plush play set, leap frog learning frog, clothes, farm animals that stack. Finally from Uncle Dan and Aunt Laura a stuffed dog that is really soft. Oh I am sure the list goes on and on and I know I may have forgotten some things which I do apologize. I know he loves all of his new toys and clothes.

Wow they learn fast

So in a matter of days since I wrote the last post, Reese has mastered the roll over skill. Not only does he do it with such ease now he even uses it as a way to get from point A to point B.

I placed him on his belly on a blanket while going around the house and doing a few things here and there. I wasn't hearing him fuss or moan so I thought all was well. I came back in a matter of minutes and Reese had rolled completely off the blanket. I stood and watched him a little more and sure enough he goes from belly to back and continues from back to belly. The same way each time so that he actually moves.

I can't even begin to understand how much their brains and minds develop everyday. I was sure that arm was going to give him problems for a while but within a day he had learned that it needs to come up by his face so that he can begin the next roll over. I am so proud and loving all of these milestones he is going through.

Reese turns 4 months

Reese turned 4 months over the weekend. He is growing up so fast. He is laughing all the time, and is an extremely happy baby. He follows everyone with his eyes, grabs items with his hands, and has even learned that his toes can be great to suck on. He has been in the process of rolling from his back to his stomach for about a week now but does not understand to move his arm out of his way so he can get on his stomach. He gets frustrated after a few minutes, which then I go and help him move his arm. He sleeps from about 7 or 8 in the evening until 8 in the morning with one wake up for a 5 minute snack around 4 or 5 am and has been steadily at this schedule for the last 6 weeks or so. I have been told I am very lucky but I think Reese just enjoys sleep as much as his mommy does. He is very ticklish. When I put his pants on and grab his waist he bursts out with a laugh. He does the same thing if I get even close to his neck. He has been so much fun lately and am enjoying every day with him.

We have been to the doctor twice in the last few days. First, Reese had a viral infection that showed up in a rash all over his body. The doctor seemed to think he had it for a week or so before I brought him in. He is so tough that I did not even realize he was sick. No fussing or crying, he did want to be held more than usual but I just assumed it was because he really loved me. He was spitting up more than usual but nothing to cause me concern. Then we went today for his 4 month checkup and shots. He weighs 2 oz shy of 16 lbs and is slightly over 25 inches long. The doctor thinks he is doing wonderful and can begin solid foods when I am ready. With his infection and our holiday trip to Kentucky, we will start him on the cereal in the new year. Look for those pictures and video because I am sure they will be funny.

We are now packing and prepping for our trip to Kentucky to see family for the holidays. We are driving since Reese did so well on the drive to Florida. Reese went to visit Santa Claus and he is coming early to the Lillard house since he knows Reese will be gone on Christmas Day and wants him to have his presents. Santa Claus was very good to him this year since he was on the nice list. He should be since he only had to behave for 4 months of the year.

Here is wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season. I have had so much fun writing on this blog and reading your comments. Look for many more posts next year.

Winter Wonderland in Houston????

Randy woke me up last night to tell me it was snowing. Being in the daze I always am when I am half asleep, I shrugged it off and thought he was kidding. I finally woke up and decided to take a look outside. Sure enough, there was a blanket of snow covering our Houston home. I joked with some local friends to bring over their snow and we could combine to make a snowman. Reese did not get to experience his first snow since it was late at night and mommy is a wimp when it comes to cold weather. The next day traffic was terrible in Houston (as if it could get any worse). Bridges were closed, overpasses were being led by cops, so drivers were not reckless. Drive times that were usually a half hour were now over 2 hours. By lunchtime all the snow had melted and it will be many many years before it snows here again, thank goodness. I hate the cold weather, snow is something Reese will have to experience at his families homes in Kentucky.
