Randy's father, Ronnie, who passed away April 2005, would tease Randy and I constantly about when we were going to give him a little R P L grandson. His full name was Ronnie Pascal Lillard and he and Randy's mom named Randy, Randolph Pascal Lillard. We wanted to continue with this tradition. We knew his middle name was going to be Pascal and we had the last name already :), so it was now coming up with the R first name.
Randy and I searched for months on R names and listened to everyone's suggestions. Picking a name using only one letter of the alphabet was difficult, I can't imagine having to choose between all 26 letters. There wasn't many choices that we were thrilled about but we did like Reese, Ryan, and Rhett. Towards the end of the pregnancy we were down to Reese and Ryan. It seemed Ryan was already very popular and used in our family but we were not going to rule it out yet.
After the c-section, the nurse brought him into the labor and delivery room and immediately we thought, "he's a Reese", it was unique but not to weird and it had not been used in our family yet, so he continues in the third generation of the R P L tradition.
I know Grandpa Ronnie would be so proud!
